Summary of GDG Ekiti State University's event in 1st Quarter 2015

GDG Ekiti State University had laid out plans for year 2015 as reflected on the mailing list. Those plans are still in progress; however, she has hosted major events this year:

Ekiti Android Study Jams (Feb 6th 2015 - till date) -
Seeing the importance in student learning Android App Development which includes a certification opportunity; and lessons from professional Google Developers, GDG EKSU deeemed it fit to run a two month long Android Study jams.
Google Developers Study Jams is a free series of global, community-run, in-person study groups. The first jam session is presented in partnership with Udacity and will follow their Android Fundamentals curriculum. This series will be led by certified Google Developer Group facilitators and will meet once weekly for 7 weeks.
This event will be happening live at Ekiti State University
Prerequisites: This is an Advanced course intended for students with at least 3 years of programming experience in Java or another object-oriented programming language (for example: C++, Objective C or Python). Udacity's Intro to Java is a helpful background if you're looking to refresh your Java skills.

Though the chapter experienced a lot of challenges (including University unstable academic calendar), we have completed the study jams and individual members have commenced work on their various projects.
We initially had 85 registered participants, which decreased to 61, 45, 10 and finally 8 due to academic situations around here.

EKSU Ladies Tech Day 2015 (in celebration of International Women's Day 2015 - March 17th 2015):

This event had great female speakers in attendance which include:
Prof. Mrs Olabisi Aina (Wife of Vice Chancellor EKSU & director Center for Women and gender Studies EKSU)], Prof. Mrs Ibiyinka ogunlade (Deputy Vice chancellor, EKSU) and Mrs M.O Ayodele (A representative from the ministry of Education Ekiti State).

They spoke various topics and a better summary of this event can be found below this post.

Please endeavor to look pics from this event on our Google+ event page.
