Droidery Challenge Participants during Google I/O '17 Extended EKSU

  Google I/O ‘17 Extended Ekiti State University was organized with a singular objective; to provide developers in Ekiti State University with the unique feel of Google I/O by including amazing features and in-depth sessions focused on building web, mobile, and enterprise applications with Google technologies such as Machine Learning, Android, Firebase, TensorFlow, Google Assistant, Google AI SDK, Kotlin, etc, coupled with the Google I/O ‘17 viewing sessions. The objective of this event was to expose members of GDG Ekiti State University to the new developer tools and technologies and provide exciting ways and insights to using them. Also, there was a Droidery Challenge, where participants were expected to build a ‘Single-Activity’ Android app, that solves a problem. These apps were to be showcased and judged during the event.   The result of this challenge was a tie between​ Andela​'s ALCEkiti​ beginners,​ Adebayo Pelumi​ and ​ Ayobami Ogunlade. Adeba

Two (2) Members of #GDGEKSU wins Udacity Nanodegree Scholarships worth $2000 from Google

Ayoola Oluwatosin  -a.k.a Otunba (Left), a 400 level student of Electrical Electronics Engineering, and  Ayodele Oluwaseyi  (Right), a 200 level student of Computer Science in Ekiti State University;   participated in the 2015 Android Fundamentals Study Jams and built  Q-Basic For Beginners  and Catholic Prayer Guide  which was reviewed amongst other over 50 submitted  apps from across Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), and selected as a high-quality  app made during the Study Jams series in SSA for the 2015 series.  They both won Udacity Android nano-degree scholarship worth USD$ 2,388 (equivalent to 0.7 Million Naira ) each from Google. The “scholarship” grants them access to the course for one year, so there should be enough time to finish off and be certified. Also, Udacity currently runs a career advisor program that provides immediate employment to users. These two (2) are already on their way to achieving a great milestone in their programming career.

Hi Developers and Designers, GDG EKSU Developers' Conference is an annual conference targeted towards encouraging intermediate developers (across the Android and Web platform in our chapter) to create innovative solutions using various professional tools. Also, it’s an avenue to recruit new members, introduce them to the various platforms available and get them started on Coding. This year, we will also be encouraging start-ups creation among members and expose them to Google’s support for start-up (Launchpad program). Overall objective of the event: The overall objective of the event is to develop an interaction with members of our GDG and introduce to more entrepreneurial tools and technologies. Also, an avenue to spur new members’ development by providing them with necessary resources that can get them started on their own. For intermediate programmers, we would introducing them to product design and advanced resources on their various platforms (web And Android).

Hello Developers and designers, I am so happy to have met everyone on Saturday during the Devfest. Also, it's encouraging to see the growth and development in the GDG community. I am so happy to see everyone working on one thing or the other. Please keep up the good work as the world is waiting to celebrate you soon! There is a wealth of opportunities in technology which includes but not limited to: Digital marketing, content creation (blogging, youtube content creation, etc.) Software engineering and development Data mining and analysis, etc. However, only a very few people in the ecosystem have taken time to explore these opportunities.
