Hi everyone, We are trying to increase the engagement and participation of all the members of our local community. GDG EKSU wasn't created for attending/organizing Google events alone, we exist also to encourage, inspire, and share ideas with each other, just like one big family; and even related to the events, we don't want to keep hosting events were more than half of the participants don't really understand all the tech stuff we are saying, because in reality, GDG isn't for everybody(our target audience are developers, upcoming developers, and those who are interested in technology in general). We understand the light situation in school, lack of internet, lectures, and all other excuses... yeah, we really do, but who said becoming great comes easy? It requires commitment, dedication, hard work, loads of sacrifices, and lots more. Explore the power of 3D printing!!! When Laura Palmaro was 10 years old, she woke one morning to find that the central vision in her left eye had all but disappeared. She was not ill and had no genetic issues—it was completely out of the blue. When she was 14, the same rare condition struck her right eye, and she began her freshman year of high school legally blind. Suddenly she was forced to depend on other people to read everything aloud, from school assignments to menus. The toughest part, according to Laura, was losing her sense of independence—and not knowing when or how she would get it back. Laura has since adopted technological solutions to her vision challenges, using a combination of screen-readers and magnification software to read, work and more. Now a program MANAGER  at Google, she is following her passion, helping Chrome and Chrome OS teams make their products more accessible. “Technology has truly transformed my life,” she says. “Assistive technology can tear down boun

Google Code Jam Launching New Competition Track

Image
culled from Google Student's Blog Registration for the 12th annual Code Jam is now open ! This year, the competition is adding a new track to the contest that’s designed to give students more real life examples of the work they would be doing as engineers. The new track, Distributed Code Jam (DCJ), will consist of algorithmic problems that are similar to the original Code Jam. But in order to solve for them, competitors will be required to program in a distributed environment.  According to Onufry Wojtaszczyk, a Google Software Engineer and one of the main creators behind DCJ, this new track will challenge experienced engineers and help teach students the skills they’ll need to work at a company like Google.  “Most of my programming skills before I joined Google came from programming contests, and it served me really well at Google. However, the one thing that programming contests didn’t prepare me for were the distributed computations that become obvious once you work at Goog
